Glencroft Receives Innovation Award for Intergenerational Generations Program in Glendale, AZ

Glencroft Center for Modern Aging has been named the recipient of the Matt Luger Innovation Award from Covenant Health Network, recognizing the impact of its Generations program and its approach to building a connected, intergenerational campus in Glendale.

This recognition highlights something that residents, families, and staff experience every day. Glencroft is not just a place for older adults to live. It is a community that brings people together across different stages of life.

For over 50 years, Glencroft has served older adults in Arizona. Today, that mission continues to grow through programs that create meaningful connections between generations.

What is the Generations Program?

The Generations program is designed to bring together older adults, young children, and young adults in a shared community environment.

Through this initiative, Glencroft has partnered with Bezos Academy to bring a Montessori-inspired preschool directly onto campus. The school will serve children ages 3 to 5, creating opportunities for natural interaction between residents and young learners.

In addition, Glencroft works with Thrive in Glendale to support young adults aging out of the foster care system. These individuals receive housing, employment opportunities, meals, and transportation while becoming part of the Glencroft community.

Residents play an active role in this environment. Many serve as mentors and life coaches, offering guidance, support, and connection to both preschool students and young adults.

Why Intergenerational Living Matters

Intergenerational communities create daily opportunities for connection that benefit everyone involved.

Older adults stay engaged, active, and connected to a sense of purpose. Younger generations gain access to mentorship, stability, and community support.

Instead of separating age groups, Glencroft brings them together in a way that feels natural and integrated into everyday life.

This approach reflects a broader shift in how people think about senior living. It is not about stepping away from life. It is about staying part of it.

A Campus That Feels Connected

Walking through Glencroft, it feels less like a traditional senior living setting and more like a community that operates on its own.

Residents gather for events, enjoy dining together, stay active through wellness programs, and now share their environment with younger generations learning and growing on campus.

The addition of Bezos Academy Sahuaro Glenn further strengthens this vision, creating a space where education, mentorship, and daily life intersect.

Recognized for Innovation

The Matt Luger Innovation Award recognizes forward-thinking programs that improve quality of life and strengthen communities.

Glencroft was selected for its commitment to building a campus that supports not only older adults, but also younger generations in meaningful ways.

This recognition reflects the impact of a community designed to be active, connected, and supportive at every stage of life.

Experience Glencroft

It is a place where people stay involved, build relationships, and live with purpose.
